Best Practices

  • Use Pre-defined Rows First: To build templates quickly and ensure all necessary dynamic tags are included, start with the Pre-defined Rows. This is especially true for the "Items" and "Store Info" rows, which are complex to build manually.

  • Check Your Dynamic Tags: The #1 cause of missing data is a misspelled tag. Always ensure your tags are spelled exactly as specified (e.g., #billtoname#).

  • Always Test Your Template: Before you "Save and Activate," send a test receipt to yourself. Process a test transaction (if possible) to ensure all dynamic fields populate correctly, images load, and all links in your buttons and social icons work.

  • Design for Mobile: Most customers will open their e-receipt on a mobile phone. Use Spacers and Dividers to create a clean, easy-to-read layout. Avoid overly large images or long paragraphs of text.

  • Use Hosted Images: For logos and promotional banners, it's best to upload them to the OptCulture Assets section first. Then, add the Image block to your template and select the image from your Assets. This ensures the image will load correctly for all users.

  • Keep SMS Content Brief: When configuring SMS delivery, remember the message itself is just a carrier for the link. Keep the text concise, e.g., "Thanks for shopping with [Your Brand]! View your e-receipt here: [link]".
