Best Practices

  • Use "Excluded Categories" for Clean Data: Always use the "Exclude Categories" filter in the Affinity and Journey tabs. Removing non-product categories like "Shipping Fees," "Donations," "Gift Bag," or "Gift Card" is essential for accurate product analysis.

  • Analyze Different Timeframes: Sales patterns change. Analyze your Affinity Map for "Previous 3 months" to see current trends, but also check "Previous 12 months" to find evergreen combos. Look at Q4 data to find holiday-specific affinities.

  • Start Broad, Then Drill Down: Use the Category Growth (Overall) chart to find an interesting trend (e.g., "thirtyCategory is down 20%"). Then, use the (Store Level) table to see if this is a company-wide problem or if one or two underperforming stores are driving the trend.
